We speak as one of the film events of last year and like any self-respecting blockbuster, Avatar from James Cameron has already allowed his adaptation games. On consoles, of course, but on iPhone and iPod Touch, with a title published by Gameloft, which will be available in the coming hours on the App Store. History whet the palate for the impatient, a few catches in the sequel and a video that gives an overview of the gameplay rather promising!

iPhone: a case that improves the reception?

The firm sells Griffin recently an iPhone case that doubles as an outdoor antenna, intended to improve the reception quality of mobile phone from Apple. A plastic shell surrounding the device, which is therefore protected from shocks, while a plastic is to protect the screen.

Tested by iLounge (where do these pictures), this case named Griffin Clearboost would actually improve somewhat the GSM reception when it is already correct. In other words, instead of displaying two bars, your iPhone will show maybe four.

Unfortunately, it seems that Clearboost is useless, or nearly so, in areas where reception is already very low. The device is therefore of interest whether you are looking for a quality of optimal network in town or in areas already well covered.

Of course, it is also possible to buy it for its qualities of protective case than for outside antenna system, but we prefer no doubt in this case turn to a simple case, no protuberance will not deform. Allow about $ 35, excluding postage, ten dollars more than a simple case of the same brand.

The robot was controlled by an iPhone

In the range of Lego Mindstorms NXT (you know, the famous bricks that have recently celebrated their fifty years?), Is a “robot” with a light sensor, and can interpret the signals sent by the latter to perform certain actions. Small malignant managed to change the robot docking station for iPhone, with the possibility of piloting the craft at a distance. Perhaps, but it seems that it works, and I tend to find it rather funny, even if the interest is obviously questionable.

The principle is as follows: Place the light sensor of the robot facing the screen of the iPhone, and it takes advantage of the WiFi connection of the latter to communicate with him remotely. Via the Safari browser, it brings up the symbols and colors that will be interpreted and will control the movement of the robot. Demo video below.

The world map of the available iPhone

Initially restricted to the United States, and launched in four European countries, the iPhone is expected in 2008 to appear officially in many countries around the world, through the operators Vodafone and America Movil, the latter being left to serve much of Latin America. Philip Elmer-DeWitt, who blog on behalf of Fortune magazine, took this beautiful weekend of May to produce a global map coverage in the iPhone world.

Thirty countries should quickly dispose of the iPhone, probably after the iPhone 2 or iPhone 3G has been announced by Apple, which should arrive before the end of the month or early June on the occasion of WWDC conference. From West to East, we find that coverage is shrinking, to be virtually nonexistent in Asia, since only India is among the countries where the iPhone was announced. China but also Japan and South Korea, a country traditionally fond of high-tech gadgets, remain virgins of any trade agreement between Apple and an operator.

A ‘iPhone Black’ listed at AT & T?

iPhone Black | Wednesday May 14 2008 7:20 am | Comments (0)

The U.S. operator AT & T reference for several hours on its website an “iPhone Black”, reported today the site AppleInsider. Proposed alongside the traditional iPhone, this iPhone Black is it the new model iPhone that everyone is waiting now? No information is given on this device, which can still think he legitimately adopt a shell … black ;-)

Let us however not too quickly … Among the customers AT & T – only they can access the page in question – some have noticed that other phone models were accompanied by the words Black on site, while n ‘are not black. Therefore, this iPhone Black is perhaps not a harbinger of the arrival of a black iPhone, but a simple mistake made at the site administration. In short, as each rumor, do not get carried away, and expect more concrete evidence!
